MATT HARMATUK

Matt Harmatuk is a retired police officer and military service member now turned actor and technical advisor. He was born in New York but moved to Texas as soon as possible. At the age of 15 he was driven to become a police officer and after high school joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve (USAFR) as a Security Specialist. He attended the CAPCO Regional Police Academy where he was elected class President and one week after his 21st birthday he became a certified Texas Peace Officer. After spending just under a year as a reserve officer at the San Marcos Police Department he was hired by the Austin Police Department where he worked for 28 years. He started in patrol and later was a firearms and tactics instructor but most of his career was spent on the department's S.W.A.T. Team. He specialized as a firearms instructor, sniper instructor, rappel master, fast rope master, as well as an aerial platform operations instructor. He also served as Team Leader and Training Coordinator for the department's Honor Guard Team. His military career included being activated during 9/11 and later was deployed to Afghanistan where he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for his leadership. He still serves today as the Security Forces Career Field Manager (USAFR Individual Mobilization Augmentee) responsible for all Air Force Defenders.

After being cast to perform as a technical extra and collaborate with Harry Humphries on the set of “Transformers: Age of Extinction”, Matt transferred the attributes that made him successful in law enforcement and the military to embark on a career in movies and television. He has since attended acting classes and participated in multiple 48hour film challenges. He most recently acted in and was a technical advisor on the set of  The CW’s “Walker” alongside Jared Padalecki. His outgoing personality, willingness to help others, intense work ethic, and positive influence make him popular on every set he has been on.
